Renee told me yesterday about this confectioners
Cake Man Raven in Greenpoint that is known for being the home of Red Velvet cake. Its supposed to be the best red velvet cake there is, or something... so obviously I had to check it out. (Renee's words: "you deserve cake"... don't know if that's quite true, but deserving or not, I figured it was something I could not miss). So I went this morning after church (didn't get a thing out of the sermon: redvelvetcakeredvelvetcakeredvelvetcakeredvelvetcake.....) and after some confusion in regards to my whereabouts, i found the Cake Man! Unfortunately, he had just sold out of his last piece of red velvet, and he said it would be about two hours until another cake was ready, so I had to settle for a bright green cake, whose flavor I am not quite sure of, but if was aesthetically appealing. I have yet to eat it. First I had to clean the apartment and do all the dishes and make myself a healthy lunch (veggie burgers, yumm) because if I had had immediate gratification it would not have tasted so good. so now it is sitting in my refrigerator and I am trying to see how long I can go without eating it, because as soon as I eat it, it will be gone (something seems flawed about that logic...)
Other than that, I have been watching a lot of seinfeld and thinking about all of you.
Daddy, what is the best way to make pasta unstick? I made an entire box of orzo the other night, forgetting, domestic person that I am, that pasta gets much much bigger when you boil it, so now I have about two months worth of orzo and it is all in one big tupperware container and pretty much a solid block. hints?
