This is who I had the pleasure of spending today with. And when I say it was a pleasure, I am selling the child short. Hands down the best company NYC has to offer (I can say that because Lauren and Ken never read the stinkin' blog anyway)...I am now sitting for KC three days a week: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Tues and Thurs it will just be Katla (pictured above, for those that don't know), and Wednesdays will be Katla and Freyja, which should be a hoot and a half. Katla and I are already bonding really well; KC said that she hasn't been this well-behaved and smiley ever in her life (which isn't actually saying that much since her WHOLE life has been all of three months...but still).
KC belongs to this Park Slope parent network (Park Slope is her neighborhood in Brooklyn) where parents post different things, including inquiries for sitters and nannies. So KC has been passing those on to me, and today this woman called me back and said she is very excited to meet me, and I have an interview with her on Saturday. Her daughter's name is Isabella, and she is 8. The gig would be Monday through Friday from 3:00 to 7:00, which works perfectly for my schedule with KC. Shawn (the mother) also said that because she and her husband are out of town for business a lot they will want me to stay overnight some days, which I really don't have a problem with, especially since the pay would be quite good. This couldn't come at a better time, seeing as my credit card got declined last night over a pint of ice cream.
Seeing as I'm in Brooklyn and all the health food nuts flock here with their hemp clothes and flannel and berets, I thought I would try to fit in and sit at an internet cafe drinking kale and spinach juice (these juices are all the rage here). Blech, I gagged the whole time. But it is advertised as being very good for your skin, which I feel might counteract the toxins that settle on me as I walk down the city streets.
Isn't Richard like 19 years old? As his pseudo-older sister, don't you think you'd better tell him that getting married this young is an awful idea? Seriously, talk some sense into this boy.
